It’s our REVEAL day for the 6th Bead Soup Blog Party®!
To recap, Jenny sent me loads of delicate and dainty ingredients – Now I am NOT dainty or into pink so I knew right off that it wasn’t going to be easy. So I did what I usually do – PROCRASTINATE! Until this past Wednesday morning (yes, July 25th!)
The evening before I had made a few bracelets and went to
sleep with stringing beads still taking up room in my creative space (Ze
brain!) I guess my mind marinated on it overnight because I woke with an idea –
yup, ONE idea!
I started
with the rose quartz – and made a bracelet
Next, I played with the Czech
glass and Lampwork beads…these beads were a mystery (well to me and my
granddaughter anyways!).
I had laid out the soup on my bedside table - just hoping the inspiration would jump into my brain while I slept each night. When I first received the beads they were a pink, a slightly deeper shade than the rose quartz – but DEFINITELY a pink. Well, one afternoon I came in and the beads were a light blue. I called in my granddaughter and asked her, “ what color are those beads?” She said they were blue!... but yesterday they were pink! Later that evening they were purple! CRAZY beads!! How the heck can I design something when the beads can't even decide what color they wants to be?!

How the heck can I design something when the beads can't even decide what color they wants to be?!
Well lucky for me I DID come
up with something -
ANOTHER bracelet, which I
ended up loving! I LOVE antique copper but have never worked with a metal
piece, or with a piece that called for multi-strands. It took a bit of
engineering to gather them into a clasp, but I did it! I ended up feeding all four strands onto one
larger jump ring. Unfortunately I can’t show you how it looks on my arm. My
wrists are super little and the beads end up falling towards the back, but on a
normal sized wrist it would sit just right!
The chains create fluidity to the
overall piece that is really nice. I
love when I can hear my jewelry, don’t you?!
And OF COURSE I had to have
some earrings too…. WHATEVER color they are, I love them! Look at those
nuggets, sprinkled with sugar! SWEET!!
The LAST pieces to use were the Mother of Pearl flower (focal) and the handmade clasp…
I
decided to create a necklace. I used a bit of the lace and a few freshwater
pearls that Jenny sent and added a few of my own handmade polymer beads
(translucent with watermelon alcohol ink and silver leaf). It’s very simple but
that’s more me.
And ONE more pair of earrings!!
These items are available for sale in my Etsy shop - Tori Sophia Designs
So that’s my soup! Hope you enjoyed! Special thanks to my partner, Jenny Vinberg and our amazing hostess, Lori Anderson for a great job coordinating this whole party! Can you imagine, 400 guests!
Check out the map which shows where we all live!

Very nice use of the pink/blue/mystery color beads, Shelley:)
Oh wow Shelley! I love all of them but the one with the antique copper butterfly focal just has to be my favorite. Beautiful Work like always! <3
ok, everyone of these pieces is just right, you totally mastered the palette!
Very nicely done Pretty girl.Love and hugs Tanya
Very pretty designs!
A beautiful job! I would have had a hard time with pink beads too...I love the color, it is just not one I would immediatly grab. However, these turned out wonderful!
Dear Tori--this is such an awesome post. Certain beads have the quality of changing depending upon the light source. I cracked up reading what you wrote--you are very funny! I AM a pink person.
I have to say that what you made is totally stunning and completely beautiful! You really made wonderful pieces!
I love your solution to the colour changing beads, copper the perfect neutral! Great job
Wbat a fun soup, and I really know what you mean about being challenged, and procrastination, but it turns out, you did a great job! I am not dainty, but I confess a weakness for pink, and you are "in the pink," my dear. Loved the work and the soup!
Amazing pieces, mom. I love the tale of the crazy color-changing beads, and how you used the butterfly !
so pretty! I love the butterfly bracelet.
Everything you made is so pretty. Those beads are beautiful - in the pictures they look like pink opals and you know opals.....
I really like the butterfly bracelet too. It is so Victorian looking to me - a look that I love. Great job!
These pieces are very girlie and pretty! Neat use of the butterfly!
So procrastinating fits you perfectly! Can't imagine what could possibly have come out better if you got a jump on you 6 pieces. Love and hugs!
I love that you took us through your whole process, even if you just started on Wednesday. I would have been creatively stuck with a bunch of pink beads as well so I completely understand where you're coming from. Also. . .I have a set of beads that changes color in different light too. It can be rather bothersome.
ANYWAY. . .In the end, I think you came up with some beautiful pieces. I especially like the butterfly bracelet with the color-changing beads ;)
You're a girl like me... if it weren't for procrastination I'd get NOTHING done, Shelley! That deadline always seems to bring out the best. Those are some crazy split personality beads!
Thanks Melissa..can't wait to see what uou come up with..love those turquose colored textured beads!
Thanks honey! Those dang beads were making me nuts! I'm just glad I didnt use them before I knew they changed color. I would have been really bummed if I had to dismantle something later! I see you received your soup...seed beads!! Hahahaha can't wait to see what you create!!
Ahh thanks Mary! Yeah the pink "mystery beads" grew on me!
Thanks Emma! I love your sop, all the blues. I epecially like he Czech roundelles and will be iing 8/11 to see what you create!
Wow Jean thank you! Your Gypsy Lace necklace is stunning. Love the ombo of green, purple and pink...so beautiful! I epecially love the earrings!,
Thanks Patti. Not a color I wear but I liked the end results. I love what you have done with the soup sent by Lori. The fun and funky earrings are my favorite! Don't wanna fight your niece so I'll settle for the bracelet 😘
Nancy, the soup you received From Lina is beautiful but those square lampwork beads you made are unbelievable! Love the bracelet! I aso think those earrings are sweet.
Excellent! Sounds like you ended up with alexandrite glass, which changes color depending upon what light you have it against.
Aggg thanks so much Tanya! Xxoo
Why thank you...I really love your multii-strand bracelet? The choices you meade were perfect...love it
((marla)) thank you il...your weaving is just geting better and better...awesomeness!!! PS still want those copper earrings!!

Butterfly bracelet is the best /"rulez" :)))))/
You can't go wrong with rose quartz. It's the love stone! And I love the rose quartz bracelet you did. So softly beautiful.
Fun pieces! Glad you overcame your fears of pink :)
My favorites are the rose necklace and matching earrings, they are very much my style :)
Well done! Love them all.
Those beads are so fun! Natural light? Artificial light? Surprise! Nice job!
The beads and jewelry you created from them are beautiful! You did a great job working with colors outside your comfort zone. I love the sparkly sugary pink!
*cheers* Way to go, you conquered the evil that is PINK! You totally rocked that soup, love it all. No. Wait. I don't like pink. What? o.0
Beautiful pieces! You did really well at crunch time. I love how that was the last thing you looked at before going to sleep. I do the same thing. :-)
Happy Hopping!
Patty
Pink or blue, who cares? You made a wonderful multi-strand bracelet!
The necklace seems really easy to wear. Love it!
Ambra
You know you've frustrated a lot of people, right? Waiting til the last minute to create, and then knocking it out of the park like that!! And a pair of earrings for each one! Crazy! I love those color changing beads, that's just too funny. I really love that filigree bracelet, it is gorgeous!!
I so love that bracelet and I'm glad those beads kept changing until they inspired you! Worth the wait!
Very lovely designs; they have a sweet vintage vibe to them! Love the addition of you polymer clay beads in the necklace!
Procrastination paid off! I love all of your pieces!
I personally think the grandkids were switching the beads on you. Love you work!! I must play with my clay too love the beads.
