REVEAL DAY: BSBP6 - Bead Soup or Sträng Soppa

It’s our REVEAL day for the 6th Bead Soup Blog Party®!

My swap partner is Jenny Vinberg of Sweden. Jenny is a teacher by day. She and her fiancee has two gorgeous daughters! So glad to have her as MY partner - she forced me into new territory!

To recap, Jenny sent me loads of delicate and dainty ingredients – Now I am NOT dainty or into pink so I knew right off that it wasn’t going to be easy. So I did what I usually do – PROCRASTINATE! Until this past Wednesday morning (yes, July 25th!)

The evening before I had made a few bracelets and went to sleep with stringing beads still taking up room in my creative space (Ze brain!) I guess my mind marinated on it overnight because I woke with an idea – yup, ONE idea!
I started with the rose quartz – and made a bracelet

and earrings to match….

Next, I played with the Czech glass and Lampwork beads…these beads were a mystery (well to me and my granddaughter anyways!).
I had laid out the soup on my bedside table - just hoping the inspiration would jump into my brain while I slept each night. When I first received the beads they were a pink, a slightly deeper shade than the rose quartz – but DEFINITELY a pink. Well, one afternoon I came in and the beads were a light blue. I called in my granddaughter and asked her, “ what color are those beads?” She said they were blue!... but yesterday they were pink! Later that evening they were purple! CRAZY beads!! How the heck can I design something when the beads can't even decide what color they wants to be?!
Well lucky for me I DID come up with something -

ANOTHER bracelet, which I ended up loving! I LOVE antique copper but have never worked with a metal piece, or with a piece that called for multi-strands. It took a bit of engineering to gather them into a clasp, but I did it!  I ended up feeding all four strands onto one larger jump ring. Unfortunately I can’t show you how it looks on my arm. My wrists are super little and the beads end up falling towards the back, but on a normal sized wrist it would sit just right!
The chains create fluidity to the overall piece that is really nice.  I love when I can hear my jewelry, don’t you?!
And OF COURSE I had to have some earrings too…. WHATEVER color they are, I love them! Look at those nuggets, sprinkled with sugar! SWEET!!

The LAST pieces to use were the Mother of Pearl flower (focal) and the handmade clasp…
I decided to create a necklace. I used a bit of the lace and a few freshwater pearls that Jenny sent and added a few of my own handmade polymer beads (translucent with watermelon alcohol ink and silver leaf). It’s very simple but that’s more me.
And ONE more pair of earrings!!

These items are available for sale in my Etsy shop - Tori Sophia Designs

So that’s my soup! Hope you enjoyed! Special thanks to my partner, Jenny Vinberg and our amazing hostess, Lori Anderson for a great job coordinating this whole party! Can you imagine, 400 guests!

Check out the map which shows where we all live!

Please continue on the 6th Bead Soup Blog Party®!  by hopping to the next “cook’s” table ...

A beautiful job! I would have had a hard time with pink beads too...I love the color, it is just not one I would immediatly grab. However, these turned out wonderful!

Dear Tori--this is such an awesome post. Certain beads have the quality of changing depending upon the light source. I cracked up reading what you wrote--you are very funny! I AM a pink person.
I have to say that what you made is totally stunning and completely beautiful! You really made wonderful pieces!

Wbat a fun soup, and I really know what you mean about being challenged, and procrastination, but it turns out, you did a great job! I am not dainty, but I confess a weakness for pink, and you are "in the pink," my dear. Loved the work and the soup!

Everything you made is so pretty. Those beads are beautiful - in the pictures they look like pink opals and you know opals.....

I really like the butterfly bracelet too. It is so Victorian looking to me - a look that I love. Great job!

So procrastinating fits you perfectly! Can't imagine what could possibly have come out better if you got a jump on you 6 pieces. Love and hugs!

I love that you took us through your whole process, even if you just started on Wednesday. I would have been creatively stuck with a bunch of pink beads as well so I completely understand where you're coming from. Also. . .I have a set of beads that changes color in different light too. It can be rather bothersome.
ANYWAY. . .In the end, I think you came up with some beautiful pieces. I especially like the butterfly bracelet with the color-changing beads ;)
