Today is the reveal day for the Thrift Shop Blog Hop sponsored by Sarah of Pookledo!
.The challenge was to get out to a local thrift shop and purchase an item for less than $1.50. We were then to make our own creation by repurposing the original item.
Here is what I started with - price $1.25 total. It is a necklace and a pin with small trinkets hanging off it.
I dismantled them . Quite a few of the components were pretty chintzy but there was just enough decent parts and along with some of my own stash I DID come up with a few things!
First I took the string of pink rhinestone and made a cute little bracelet - which was immediately scarfed up by my granddaughter, Gegi, who loves pink!
"Paternal Twins" |
Next I made a set of assymetrical earrings - I usually stay on keel, at least in my jewelry - haha - but my granddaughter Jordyn assured me it was quite fashionable to wear earrings that aren't identical twins. So here are my "paternal twins" earrings!

Not a bad haul for $1.25 huh? Let's go see what the other participants did...

Very cute work...I love thrifting!!!!! And upcycling!!!!!! Was it fun???? I will get in on the next one!
That's pretty impressive what you made!
Wow that was a great HAUL!!!! And the projects resulting are AWESOME!! The girls look DELIGHTED!!! Way to go!
Wow! You chose a great item and all of your finished pieces are so on trend right now.
And very girly too.
Well done! And thanks for joining in :)
Your grandkids are so cute! It's always fun seeing them. And they make GREAT models for your jewelry here! Bet they were happy for the custom-made jewelry too! What a deal!
This is another one, that I'm just amazed at the pieces you made from what you started with. It didn't look very hopeful to me in the beginning! ha! :-)
Love the earrings and especially the crown necklace.
Deb x
I am usually not a fan of asymmetrical earrings, but your are nice. Jordyn has good taste.
Ambra
FIt for a princess for sure, & I quite like those 'paternal twins' very COOL
What great finds! And lovely pieces made with them too. I feel quite lazy now having made only the one piece lol
Nice! I see Princess Gegi nabbed two and Jordyn only got one? Or does her highness count earrings as two ? ;) lol Excellent work :)
Well done Miss Shelley. The girls look divine in their new pieces.Love and Hugs Tanya
The Jewelry was beautiful well thought out I love the way you turned someone else's no longer wanted trinkets into someone else's new and fab (I might add ;) ) treasure. Your models a gorgeous I'm sure there mother is very beautiful as well !!
Shelley, you rocked this! Perhaps we should all teeter "off keel" once in a while, if this be the result. I have fraternal twin nieces who would find your asymmetrical earrings very cool. But would I have to make FOUR mismatched items to ensure they don't switch and match!?!
Shelley, not only did you make some great pieces, but you made two special little girls very happy! Great job!!!
I love the earrings.. my daughter told me the same thing.. Mom that is the style these days.. lol Love what you made :)
My granddaughter(s) would love your re-designed jewelry as well! Very cute!! I am supposed to be on the list of participants!
