PAINTING #3: Thirty Paintings in Thirty Days Challenge – Robert Motherwell

I am taking part in Leslie Saeta’s “ Thirty Paintings in Thirty Days Challenge”.

I have chosen the NEW YORK SCHOOL as my theme.  CLICK HERE to learn more about it.

Today’s quote from one of the New York School artists:

Robert Motherwell (1915-1991) was an American painter, printmaker, and editor. He was born in Aberdeen, Washington. He was one of the youngest of the New York School (a phrase he coined).2 His paintings, prints and collages feature simple shapes, bold color contrasts and a dynamic balance between restrained and boldly gestural brushstrokes.1

Je t’aime (1955-1957)

No, art is not an object. It isn’t just something to be seen and touched.3

Art is an encounter. It’s a journey. It isn’t always pleasant. It doesn’t always lead down a path with a final destination. It’s just life.
My life now, and j'aime ça.

My Painting for Day 3 of the challenge, inspired by his quote:

What IS art to you?

I hope you will join in, you can jump in at any time. I'd love to see what you create!
As Leslie says,It's about getting in to the studio to try new things. It's about painting more often. It's about having fun and developing new habits!”
