REVEAL DAY: Cocktail Hour Blog Hop - It's Cocktail Hour!

Today is reveal day for the Cocktail Hour Blog Hop sponsored by Amy Freeland of Copper Diem.

My assigned cocktail is the Sea Breeze. Its both sweet and sour and especially yummy during hot summer months. Originally created in the 1920's the Sea Breeze was originally made with gin and grenadine.

Here's the recipe as it's made today:
 *   1.5 ounces of vodka
 *   4 ounces of cranberry juice
 *   1.5 ounces of grapefruit juice

Build all ingredients in a highball glass filled with ice, shake it to create a foamy head. Garnish with a generous slice of lime.

AND here's what I was inspired to create ~

I love the way the liquids in the cocktail separate into layers of pink, orange and scarlet. The foamy head excites me,  but not as much as the bright splash of lime green. Love these colors together!

My bracelet and earrings were made with my own polymer clay beads using this same color palette and were dusted with a touch of sparkley irridescent to depict the foam. The small wood spacer beads hint at the lime granish in the Sea Breeze.

This was a fun challenge! Not only do I have a few new pieces of jewelry,  but now I have a new cocktail to add to my list of summer favorites.

Make sure to visit all of the stops on the Cocktail Hour Blog Hop to see what other artists have been inspired to create  -

Shelley your set looks fantastic! You matched the colors so well! And like the other posters the fact that you made your own beads for this is just fantabulous! I hope you are well!

Patti, thanks so much. I pondered about how to handle this challenge, when the lime beads arrived it became clear.

My husband voted your piece as his favorite (and he doesn't drink ale!)

Oh Kim, so nice of you to say that! If you email me your address I will send you a couple of leftovers! I LOVE those lime green earrings - pretty, pretty!

Amy, thanks for much for hosting this hop. It was so much fun. My husband and I viewed the entries together. He had so much to say about the different designs, I was alittle shocked that he got so into it. Let me know whenever you decide to have another swap/blog hop!

Well Jenny you know how I feel about lime, so you KNOW I loved your necklace. Vivid!!!

((Marla)) Thanks sweets. I came up with the design at the last minute (as usual!). I have seen your posts but haven't had much to say lately. I am sure my energy will pick up soon, and then try to shut me up! hahaha...HEY is that matching bracelet still available???

Kashmira, your depiction of Empire State Building was great. Love how you used the brassy chain to offset the red. Beautiful work! I liked how you found skyline pictures that picked up on the colors in the cocktail. NYC is beautiful at night and so is your necklace!

Unknown said...

Andrea, thanks for your kind words. Yes I made the beads out of polymer clay (pink ones). I am kind of new to polymer and jewelry making, started in March. This challenge was so much fun! Thanks again.

Thanks Sue! I love those enameled beads you used in your piece - GORGEOUS! And I also loved the bracelet you did in the Italian House challenge, the tiger iron beads are so cool. Will be watching your blog to see what you do next.

Thanks Alice! I was reading your blog, wanted to say how much I like your necklace "Little Villa" - very very nice!!! And how lucky of you to have been selected to take part in the Art Bead Love Tour - looking forward to seeing what you add and subtract! Enjoy it.

Jeannie, funny you should say that. They kinda look like candy to me too. I just wanna eat em (weirdo, I know! I used to get this way about my mosaics too!LOL). Thanks for stopping in on the hop!

Thanks so much! I looked at your blog (actually still looking!) love that journal cover you did for the bead swap. Clever girl! I used to have a business as a seamstress and it was named "willingly with her hands" and was based on that same scripture. I felt the same way when I sewed, but making it a business took the fun out of it. Did you quilt that also? I am sure you did, but I have to wander through your blog and see all you do. I emailed the address to my ipad so I can relax and really dive in later today. SO, I'll be watching!! Thanks again for stopping by my blog.

You REALLY nailed this! Don't tell anyone else but this is my favorite so far. And how cool that you made your own beads!

Cynthia said...

Your polymer beads are gorgeous, and look just like the cocktail! Fabulous!

Unknown said...

I know I am sooooo late but I really really really really love this set! Your colors and beads are amazing!

Unknown said...

Nah you are right on time. It takes a while to get around to all those blogs, especially if you been sipping and don't have a designated "mouse clicker"...hahaha . BTW I loved your entry, the pink is so creamy and yummy.

Unknown said...

Well Sonya, your entry inspired me too! I actually tried to order a Bellini last night but the restaurant didn't serve them. UGH! Tomorrow night maybe we will find a restaurant that does...your beadwork is amazing. I so envy you artists, I don't have the patience or the ability to create something so intricate. KUDOS!!

Unknown said...

((KELLY)) Ohh sorry I published your vote, hahaha. Thanks so much for your kind words, mean alot to me.

Unknown said...

Thanks Cynthia. I loved your entry too...where do you get all those pieces you used in the earrings, the enameled ones? And the parrot was too cute!
