Robert Motherwell (1915-1991) was an American painter, printmaker, and editor. He was born in Aberdeen, Washington. He was one of the youngest of the New York School (a phrase he coined).² His paintings, prints and collages feature simple shapes, bold color contrasts and a dynamic balance between restrained and boldly gestural brushstrokes.¹

Art is an encounter. It’s a journey. It isn’t always pleasant. It doesn’t always lead down a path with a final destination. It’s just life.
