Well it's time to step up my game!
I am working on the redesign of my website, SGTurner Art. Since it is connected with Word Press, I decided to go ahead and create a new blog as well - one just for my artwork, its called "Exploring Layers". CLICK HERE to visit.
I will continue to use this blog but for posts of a more personal nature. So in the future come here for the fun, family and friends side of my life, and the other one for my art!

MOVING SALE!
Of course preparing for the move has been a lot of work. A. LOT! To sort, purge and pack up an art studio takes a bunch of time but add into the mix that the contents are going to several spaces and it gets complicated.- fast.
I needed to take inventory of exactly what was in there to begin with. Let me tell you - there was MOUNTAINS of 'stuff''. Before I can pack it I need to see with my eyes how much I have of each category. We've been living around piles of supplies and a bigger pile of empty boxes and containers waiting to be refilled.
When I am all done I am going to be super-duper happy - AND organized,. That's what sustains me through this crazy time. I think of it like intense labor pains. You just try to concentrate on the precious newborn you will hold in your arms at the end of it all! In this case my new business space is my baby.
SO ... now there is one last step in preparing for the move and I could use your help with it. It's reducing the amount of things that need to be moved. In other words, I need to sell off some of my "S&%T", specifically my artwork inventory.
Here's the scoop:
Starting on May 26th at 7pm, I will be conducting an ONLINE auction of my artwork inventory. It's going to go through Sunday, May 28 11:59pm EST. It will be held in my Facebook Group - "Fabric of My Life". You can see previews of some of the works that are in my inventory now through the start of the sale. (NO Bidding yet though!). If you aren't a member already, go to the group and ask to join. CLICK HERE.
If you aren't able to join us for the sale, can I ask you to please share the event on Facebook and/or your other social media channels? I would appreciate it, and I KNOW Mel would too! LOL (You can find the post pinned at the top of my business page HERE)
To attend the Auction GO HERE and request to join.
To SHARE please GO HERE and then SHARE pinned post at the top.
As always I thank you for your friendship and support,
~ Shelley

Coming in January: CREATE. SHARE. INSPIRE.
I'm issuing a challenge to you - JOIN Me!
CREATE.
SHARE.
INSPIRE.
It's what we do - whether you call yourself an artist, crafter or artisan.
Isn't that why we blog, post our videos to YouTube and chat on Facebook? We join online groups to find like-minded folks. In doing so we end up building our own little art community.
I belong to a couple groups (I use the term 'couple' but in fact it's quite a few!) I have found that many of my friends, like me, play in more than one creative field. We like working in many different mediums. Some of my friends are on Facebook, others blog, and still others hangout on Youtube. I wanted to find a way to get all my friends together. That's when I came up with the idea of throwing a little on-line party - a challenge of sorts.
I am sending out this invitation to you -
- Beginning on January 1st, and every Thursday in January, I will post a winter-themed prompt. (might be a photo, quote or just a color palette)
- Based on that week's prompt, you will CREATE something in your choice of creative field or medium. You can even change up from week to week (this week mixed media, next week jewelry design..you get the idea).
- The following Tuesday (and every Tuesday thereafter) you will SHARE your creation by linking up on my blog (more on that later). You can link up to your photo, blog post or video. Whichever - it's totally your choice.
- Stop by my blog, click on the other links and meet new friends. I have no doubt your work will INSPIRE others and who knows, you might even be inspired to try your hand at something new! (Oh, AND you might gain another follower or subscriber too!)
Here is how you sign up:
1. Leave a comment below.
2. Request to join my new Facebook group, CLICK HERE.
I created this group for you! A place to bring together all my creative friends and followers. Think of it as our own art cafe, a place where we can get to know one another, share our work, ask questions, or just shoot the breeze. So join in, introduce yourself and let us know about your creative journey.
If you are not on Facebook then email me with your name and the best place to connect with you. I don't want you to miss future updates or instructions.
So, are you up for this wintery challenge? Come along, join me and let's start the New Year off right!
(ps: more news to tell but can't spill the beans just yet. YOU will be the first to know. LOL)

New DESTASH group started!
As I change TORI SOPHIA Designs over from ceramics to mixed media art I decided to share the ceramic components and jewelry pieces I still have available with my friends. So I opened a destash group on Facebook. It works a little differently than most destash groups I have been a part of in the past. I will post only a small amount of items per week, and to begin, just one day a week. I will post the items for PREVIEW on Saturday but won't start the SALE until Sundays at 7pm EST. This will keep people from impulse buying* as well as make it fair to all. If everyone has a chance to look it over, before the feeding frenzy starts - that's better in my view.
* YOU know we are ALL impulsive bead hoarders! - "Ooooh, SHINY, want!" - sound familiar?! LOL
A few of this week's offerings:
It's my wish that my pieces NOT be purchased for resale purposes (other than in your own designs) so I have made the decision not to sell in bulk or wholesale to resellers. I don't care if people buy my jewelry and then take it apart and repurpose it, to me that's art and I can only HOPE to be a part of their process. But to buy with the intent to turn around and sell them, even in bead soups, that doesn't appeal to me. And these are my babies! :)
I hope people understand and aren't offended. These pieces are apart of me. I never mass produced any of my pieces, except in limited number or as part of a series. WITH THAT SAID, if you would like to become a member please stop by....Viewings start Saturdays with SALE beginning Sundays at 7PM EST. Thanks!
