I
am an artist. I love color, texture and working with my hands.
I
guess that’s why I love challenges so much. When working at a challenge I can get creative but with some rules
and a deadline. I have found that I need that discipline; otherwise I don’t
always venture into my studio and get work done as I should. So that’s why I
think I gravitate to all the challenges and blog hops.
Unfortunately
the challenges seem to come in bunches. I might have two in a week and then not another
one for a couple more weeks. I need MORE structure!
So
I am instituting my own structure, but I need some company. Do you want to join me for a play date?
* BFF is BeadingFriend Friday. It is my weekly interview-type blog post featuring some of my favorite artists. It has been a weekly feature here on Fabric of My Life.
Should you want to come
play, here is how it will work:
1.
I
will send off to you a package of my handmade components (beads, charms and/or
focals) along with a few coordinating beads and findings.
2.
You
and I will both create a piece of jewelry using those same select components
plus some of our own stash. You do NOT have to use the all the pieces I send
but just the focal bead/charm(s).
3.
On
a set date (about two weeks later) we will both show off our designs on our
blogs, with links to the other’s post.

Yes, I want to play! This post says everything about MY life!! I love to create, and the structure and deadlines of hops, challenges, fundraisers gives me the way to make it happen. I think that as the "matriarch" of the family -- as GRANDMA :) -- it is very easy for me to be swept away into caring for the house, home, family, little ones, bills, etc. That's all good & I love it, but having a challenge allows me to have a special "responsibility" of making jewelry, writing, sharing, joining in a community of creative soul-mates, nurturing my soul. It's taken an entire year for my family to get it -- Rita MUST make jewelry, Rita MUST learn, Rita MUST create -- she promised to. Their resistance has turned to support, and a daughter has even joined in :) Life is good with structure. Thank you!!

Rita - that is exactly how I feel! I was going to get a part-time job but with all the G-Ma duties (G-Ma, that's what they call me), I wouldn't have time to play in the studio. So the job is out! PRIORITIES! (hmm now I have to sell some more so I won't feel so guilty spending the hubby's money - ah shucks, that guilty feeling will pass hahaha)

you know, I've said over and over that I'm not joining any more hops or challenges until I clear my list some more... but ... my list will be clear of challenges and hops as of this Saturday ( minus one that we're all waiting for a date to be set for). DeleteYou had me at PDA. Shelley, I'd love to participate. I'm super busy, but deadlines keep me from slacking off. I created my own series of challenges to keep myself active (creatively). I've been slacking with the blog posts a little, but I'm still on top of things. Anytime will work for me.

I love challenges! & having a deadline is great for keeping me on task! Am I too late to sign up? I wanna play too! Can you wait for me till November? Don't mean to rub your nose in it (well, I kinda, sorta do! :-P), but I'll be in Hawaii beginning of Oct. & this month's almost shot. How does late Oct., beginning of Nov. sound to you?
